Fragmento.

El complicado mecanismo del paso de yodo inorgánico a través del tubo digestivo, su distribución extra e intracelular en el cuerpo y su excreción por los riñones. requiere oxigenación y probablemente está controlado por un mecanismo enzimático (1). La mayor parte de los estudios han partido de la observación de cretinos, haciendo especial énfasis en la investigación del metabólismo de la hormona y en la frecuencia con que se presentaba el disturbio en distintos miembros de una familia.

La iniciación de estas experiencias se debe a Stanbury y sus observaciones primitivas se remontan a 1950.
