Abstract
Gene único recesivo de expresión viariable con limitación genésica relativa (mujeres). El 50% de las mujeres y el 25% de los hombres con el factor recesivo desarrollan la enfermedad (homozigotes), lo que implica la existencia de factores modificadores. (1).
APOYAN:
- "Ceguera" del gusto frente a la Feniltiocarbamida (PTC o feniltiourea), verdadero marcador de genes. Existe asociación significativa entre el gene gustativo para el PTC y la enfermedad tiroidiana
- Alteraciones familiares de las proteínas ligadoras de tiroxima (TBG). La fracción normalmente elevada en el embarazo y la misma que se deprime con el suministro de la testosterona ha sido identificada con el TBG (electroforesis con carbonato de amonio y en banda 4 con almidón gel). Observación de familias con elevación congénita de la TBG (valores séricos de tiroxina 2 a 3 veces lo normal y de TBG 4 a 5 veces lo normal). Se ha sugerido que en la interacción de la tiroxina y la TBG sería el nivel de tiroxina no ligada la que gobernaría la tasa del metabolismo y los efectos de la hormona.
