Abstract

Background: Dr. Mestre describes the clinical manifestations of this disease in a patient and refers to other aspects such as differential diagnosis, recommended treatment, anatomopathological lesions and possible causes that originate acromegaly. He mentions the research on this condition and the most internationally recognized authors of those years.

Purpose: The article published by Dr. Arístides Mestre, considered the first detailed reference on acromegaly published in Cuba, is analyzed and described.

Conclusion: We consider that Dr. Mestre's article constitutes a jewel of general medical and endocrinological literature in Cuba, so it should be known by present and future generations of health professionals.
