SUMMARY
Sex-hormone binding protein (SHBP) and testosterone levels in pregnancy and relation to fetal sex
A practical and unexpensive method of dosification of sex-hormone binding protein (SHBP) is described; it allow us to differentiate without overlaping the existing levels in men, Women and pregnancy with average titles of less then 1:5, 1:93 and 1.360 respectivelly. In pregnancy there are increased levels of both SHBP and plasma testosterone, being this last one of 143.41 ng/100 ml.
Non significant differentes of both maternal SHBP and testosterone were found in relation to fetal sex; statistically significant differences of testosterone were found in newborns, being average levels of 96.25 ng% in boys and 78.21 ng% in girls (P<0.02).
