Resumen
La reciente disrupción de las capacidades generativas en el área de la inteligencia artificial (IA) se dio luego de éxitos sin precedentes alcanzados por modelos basados en transformación y difusión, ello condujo al crecimiento sustancial dependiente del entrenamiento de “grandes modelos”, además de la enorme disponibilidad de datos actualmente. El “aprendizaje autosupervisado” en el que se basa la IA busca predecir la probabilidad de la siguiente palabra en una oración, aunque la sorpresa fue que emergió la capacidad de contestar preguntas, hacer resúmenes, traducir texto y conocer el sentimiento de una frase, todas ellas tareas asociadas con la inteligencia humana.
El lanzamiento para uso público en noviembre del 2022 de ChatGPT, IA basada inicialmente en el modelo Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3 (GPT-3) de la empresa OpenAI, suscitó un cisma a todo nivel, tanto en el ámbito científico como por fuera de este (2) y ha inducido una carrera sin precedentes por alcanzar la supremacía entre gigantes tecnológicos (Microsoft, Google, Meta), grandes proveedores de cómputo (Nvidia), empresas de diverso tipo (Bloomberg), gobiernos (Reino Unido), la academia (Universidad de Stanford) y, lo más importante, personas del común, como ocurre en plataformas abiertas como Hugging Face.
